Auditions FAQ

How do I know that my application has been successfully submitted?

If you are able to see the following message in your web browser after submitting the application, then we have received your application. If you are not sure, you can e-mail [email protected] to confirm. All applicants will receive an e-mail on April 21, 2014 notifying them whether or not they have been given a spot in live auditions.

“Thanks for your application! We’ll be contacting you shortly about your application. In the mean time keep up with our blog for the latest information! If there are any questions please send them to [email protected].”

Can I be in more than one group submission?

You can submit as many applications as you want as long as they are different acts. If you have multiple talents we would love to see it!

Can you submit as a soloist?

A soloist application is completely within the rules of the audition. We encourage all sizes of groups!

Can you submit more than one video for a single application?

Submitting more than one video is encouraged. This will help us see you in action in different environments. Try to limit to 5 though. We want to see your best!

Can you submit a video with an accompanist who will not be at the live audition? (Will be solo at the live audition)

Of course. Please write in the application that the accompanist is not part of the submission in the notes section. This will make sure we don’t mistake it as a group.

When will I know that I’ve been chosen to come back for the second round?

After the initial submission process  we are aiming to announce the call backs by the 21th of April

Does my ethnicity have to be from Asian decent?

Our mission is to empower Asian Americans through entertainment and to fulfill that mission we believe the best way is to showcase individuals with an Asian background through the programming we have throughout the year. If you’re a group of artists and have at least one individual with Asian heritage, then you can apply for the showcase.

What time should I show up for my auditions?

The first round auditions are conducted digitally so you don’t have to worry about this until you get called back. If you do, you should plan to show up 15-20 minutes before your scheduled time. This will give you plenty of time to set up and prepare, while also being interviewed by some of the staff members.

What should I bring with me to the 2nd round?

Please bring your signed liability form (one for each person participating) and any equipment you will need for your performance.

What equipment will you have at the 2nd round auditions?

We will be bringing a minimal amount of equipment to the studio but will mostly likely have a PA system, piano, and a couple 1/4″ and XLR cables. If you’re not sure please email us to confirm what equipment we will have and what you need to bring.

What will the audition process be like?

Upon arriving, a staff member will check you in and collect your liability form(s). While waiting your turn, please be prepared to be interviewed and filmed. During the audition, there will be anywhere from 5-7 staff members present. You will be asked a few questions about your artistic background and personality, followed by 10 minutes (including setup) to perform.

When will I find out if I’ve been chosen as a finalist?

We will let you know within two weeks of your audition if you’ve been chosen.

Can I have guests accompany me to the audition?

While we appreciate your supporters, due to the lack of space in the lobby, we ask that only those who are auditioning attend. If you or anyone in your act is under 18, we will allow one guardian per minor.

Who should I contact if I have any questions the day of the audition?

Please e-mail [email protected]. After the first round of auditions we’ll send an e-mail out to those who passed with further information.
