Five Songs for Spring

Congratulations…we made it! After what seemed to be a never-ending winter, this past weekend’s 70-degree weather seemed to mark what some may wish to refer to as The Great Thaw. It’s  time to put away your Canada Geese and jam to these locally-based talents, in celebration of springtime in the city.

Raveena Aurora, “Grey Eyes”

New York University student Raveena Aurora’s slow dream-pop tunes will have you swooning under that steamy 70-degree heat. A visit to Coney Island may be in order after watching this video.

Rekstizzy, “Bliss”

The Queens-born rapper Restizzy features a slower beat than what you’ll usually hear in his hard-hitting tracks. Keep an eye out for his upcoming album, Whatever You Say, set to drop this summer.

Baiyu, “Mourning Hangover”

You may already be familiar with Baiyu, the R&B singer, model and actress. Check out her most recent album, AYAHUASCA, here.

El Gambina, “Conversate”

This track is an oldie but goodie from rapper Choice 37 featuring Jersey-based emcee El Gambina. A member of group Organic Thoughts, El’s music is described as “conversational chill flow with knowledge.”

Lost & Found, “Eldridge Mix”

DJ duo Lost & Found is comprised of Sammy the Lost Boy and DJ Kyu. The former recently said goodbye to its other half, but thankfully their fantastic mixes are still immortalized on the Internet for us to enjoy.

That’s all for now, friends. Now get off your computers and go enjoy the sun.
